Violet (formerly Slinker)

Hello, my name is Violet (formerly Slinker). My Dad adopted me from UPAWS a couple of years ago, and I am so glad he did. I’m an active little cat, and at his house in the woods I get to watch the birds and squirrels (there’s even a feeder right on the window!), chase ping-pong balls around, and help Dad with his projects – all while staying safely indoors. I also have a very important job here: I’m in charge of rodent control. Dad says I’m good at it. He wasn’t even too upset when I chased a mouse up into the basement ceiling and then fell through it right into the shower with him. I scrambled out and left him the mouse. I think he was proud….

There are all kinds of interesting places to explore here. Dad had to put latches on all the drawers and cupboards because I learned to open them and get into mischief. I also like to try to climb into the fridge, so now Dad always checks it carefully before closing it in order to avoid disaster. I like to keep him on his toes! My latest adventure involved getting stuck in my food dispenser. I’m so lucky to have Dad to rescue me.

When I hear Dad’s car pulling in the drive, I watch for him out the front door. I can’t wait to tell him all about my day. As soon as he comes in, I plop down and he rubs my tummy. Then I accompany him as he goes about his routine, helping with chores and answering him when he talks to me.  I like to sit on his lap while he reads or watches a movie, and at night, I burrow under the covers with him.

It’s a good life. Dad’s happy too. He’s never had a cat before and it’s been my pleasure to show him what he’s been missing.

None of this would have been possible without the kind people at UPAWS. Thank you!
