Sweetie

Hello!

We just wanted to give you an update on Sweetie Girl. When we got home, we turned our second bathroom into her sanctuary room.  We emptied under the cabinet and put a big fluffy blanket and her food and water in there.  We keep one cabinet door open and the other closed so she can get in and out but still feels like she has a safe place to snuggle in.  There is a window that we keep open during the day for fresh air.  She’s able to get to the window to look out, though we haven’t seen her do that yet.

After a couple of days she really started to open up to us when we would visit her in her room.  This girl absolutely LOVES pets and cat pats.  She is a total ham and will roll over and show her belly and knead her paws in the air.  She is still very jumpy. She reacts instantly even when someone shifts the way they are sitting.  She has gained a little bit of weight which we think is positive because we noticed how skinny she was once she became comfortable enough to start walking around.

We have gotten to the point where we keep the door to her room open all day, and only close her in at night. Her and our first cat have yet to make friends, and we are trying to prevent any middle of the night drama that will make her feel unsafe. Our other cat isn’t being very welcoming, but she is showing signs of acceptance slowly.

We still have some work to do but from where she was when we brought her home, some major growth has happened.  I’ve attached a picture we took of her today.   This is her looking up at me waiting for more pets. 🙂
