Bertie

Hey team! Just wanted to send over an update on our little Bertie for anyone involved in this tale who might be interested:

2 weeks ago, Bertie went back to Bayshore for her jaw surgery. She got wired and had an esophageal tube inserted to help her bridge the gap of the first few weeks. Dr. Hunt opted to leave the bullet shrapnel in her shoulder alone, as she seems to get around well and he didn’t want to introduce unneeded trauma to the joint given her age. 

She’s already put on a pound since we first found her and actually had her feeding tube removed (read: self removed, lol) and her entry point stitched up on Thursday. Shes eating on her own now and has made friends with the rest of our squad. Her jaw might never be on quite straight again, but it’ll just be part of what makes her unique!

We learned during all her vet visits that she LOVES the car and going for walks, so she will have a fun summer!
