About Westley

Wesley is an 11-year-old neutered male who has had a difficult time adjusting to shelter life. His entire world changed-and on top of that fear and confusion, he was suffering from a severe urinary tract infection and extremely painful crystals.

Cats are masters at hiding pain. Wesley didn't feel well, he didn't understand what was happening, and he didn't trust that being touched was safe. When people came too close, he sometimes defended himself the only way he knew how. It was heartbreaking because underneath that fear was a hurting cat who needed compassion, not judgment.

Our wonderful staff refused to give up on him. They began gently, using a little back scratcher so Wesley could experience affection from a comfortable distance. In time, they progressed to a toothbrush-and now, when someone approaches slowly and treats him with patience and kindness, Wesley allows gentle scritches on his cheeks and behind his ears. Best of all, he leans into them.

For Wesley, that small lean is an enormous act of trust.

Wesley doesn't need someone who expects instant affection. He needs a gentle, patient person who will allow him to feel safe and build a relationship at his own pace. He deserves a quiet, loving home where he can finally exhale and know that he belongs.

Please don't overlook cats like Wesley. They matter deeply to all of us at UPAWS, and their lives are every bit as precious. Somewhere out there is the person who will look beyond Wesley's difficult beginning and give this deserving senior the wonderful home he has been waiting for.
