UPAWS in the Running for Petco Foundation Holiday Wishes People’s Choice Award
On November 16, the Petco Foundation announced that the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter was selected for a Holiday Wishes Award for $25,000. The award was given thanks to an adoption story (READ HERE) about Will LeClair and his five year wish to adopt a bunny being fulfilled.
Thousands of stories were submitted for the Petco Foundation Holiday Wishes grant and a total of 51 were chosen. This is the second year in a row that a story submitted about a UPAWS adoption won a Holiday Wishes Award, and last year we came in second place for a People’s Choice Award, earning an additional $10,000. This was quite an accomplishment, since the other stories that won were from Baltimore, San Francisco, and Sacramento!
As a Holiday Wishes award finalist for 2018, UPAWS once again has the opportunity to earn up to an additional $25,000 – but we need your help! We need you to vote for us for the People’s Choice Award Competition! Voting is free and must be done via www.petcofoundation.org/
All 51 winning stories are in the running for the $25,000 People’s Choice Award. We need YOU to vote for us so we can extend our lifesaving power this holiday season and beyond. We are encouraging all community members to visit the Petco Foundation’s website and vote for UPAWS: “Adopted Bunny is a Dream Come True Five Years in the Making.”
Votes must be cast directly via the Petco Foundation’s website and only one vote per person. Voting ends on December 19 at noon CST.
