Fifi aka Autumn Grace

It’s been a little over a year since the day I decided to look at the UPAWS website during the “Trick or Tuna” October adoption month. I hadn’t planned on adopting, but the picture of “Fifi” I just couldn’t get out of my mind. Three days later, “Fifi” was renamed Autumn Grace and became a part of my family. I didn’t know that as a had a new member of the family that 2 weeks later I’d lose a family member when my mom passed away.
Gracie, her full name’s used when she plays with her favorite toy jingle ball, as you can see in the picture, at 3 in the morning, had a rough first few months adjusting to a new home, another cat sister, and a mom with a broken heart.
It was obvious Gracie had some type of mental trauma as she would jump at every loud noise (hides under my bed from thunder) and runs when she sees a broom. She knows she has a home with food and water yet has nightmares that jolt her awake. I’ve been scratched up a few times on my legs and shoulders, her two favorite sleeping places.
But Gracie is truly a blessing and brightens my life daily with her unconditional love and affection. As you can see in the picture, Gracie’s favorite place to cuddle with me is on my shoulder. Its a true comfort when I go to bed at night to have Jordan, my first furbaby, sleeping curled at my feet and Gracie cuddling and purring on my shoulder. She and Jordan are finally on good terms, even though they do have their moments, and actually play and on a few occasions cuddle together. She’s even sociable with people who come to my home. Curiously sniffing and checking them out. Gracie has come a long way from a scared cat to a cuddly love bug who meows whenever I’m out of her sight.
I always say, “everything happens for a reason” and I thank you, UPAWS, for having the “Trick or Tuna” which allowed me to pay what I could, wouldn’t have been able to do it otherwise, to adopt Autumn Grace into my family.
