Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter

Lost & Found Pets

The animals you see listed here are not currently available for adoption. They are lost and waiting for their owner to claim them.

If you see your lost pet here, contact us immediately by phone (leave a message). Be prepared to provide proof of ownership.

Strays are held according to signs of ownership and time found. All strays are held for at least four business days (not including weekends or holidays). Any stray that has indication of ownership, such as tags, phone number on collar, microchip or tattoo, will be held 7 days (not including weekends or holidays). We do our best to find the animal's family by posting in the Mining Journal and checking all lost reports at our facility.

If you don't see your lost pet on our Stray Page it is still important to contact us to make a report (in case someone has called and found your pet). Also please review our Lost & Found Tips page.

The animals that are not claimed by their original owner may be available after their “stray hold” is over.   We can not reserve an animal, so if you are interested in adopting one of these pets, please keep checking our adoptable animal pages for availability.

Please remember to keep identification on your pet, either a tag or a phone number written on the collar.

We try to keep these pages as current as possible, but status is subject to change without notice. The animal photos and descriptions as well as the Web site's general maintenance are all taken care of by UPAWS volunteers.

If you have any questions about any of the animals please call us at (906)475-6661 or send us e-mail at info@upaws.org.
