UPDATE: Hooray, Mocha has been adopted. She is scheduled to have her eye surgery and get spayed this Wednesday and she has already found a home! Thank you to her adopter and a Huge Thank You to the Deb's Dog of the Month Program for helping sweet Mocha with her eye removal surgery and spay!
ORIGINAL STORY
This is Mocha and she is a 11 month old shepherd mix who arrived at the shelter because her former owner was not allowed to have her where they lived. She is a sweet, quiet girl who is longing for a loving, 'forever home'. Her former owners said that she scratched her eye in July and the owner brought her to the vet. She was given antibiotics for her eye. They told the vet it looked better. Well, the eye seems like it did not heal well, as you can see, and the lens is damaged. The shelter wants to get her into the vet, and her appointment is for Monday. She may be blind in her one eye and in that case, most likely, it should be removed and sewn shut. Sweet Mocha has been chosen to be our February "Deb's Dog of the Month", and the Deb's Dog program will be helping her with her eye vet care. Now, a bit more about our lovely Mocha. She is a smaller gal weighing in at about 35 pounds. She is a little shy but that may have to do with her eye, we're sure it is confusing for her. A home with kids 10 and up would be preferred since really fast movements make her nervous. Mocha keeps her kennel pretty clean, she walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides. She knows a few commands such as 'sit' and 'give paw'. Mocha would love a home where someone is around to spend time with her, love her and assure her that all is good and kind in this world. In return she will provide you with a great walking partner, play companion, and above all, her unconditional love and appreciation. Mocha is a little bit shy yet a charming canine searching for a caring owner with relaxed lifestyle. With a little TLC she will blossom! Come out and meet her and give her a chance! You may just fall in love!
